4月5日午後5時ごろ、海上自衛隊の補給艦と護衛艦が、宮古島北東約100kmの海域を南東に進む中国海軍ルーヤンII級ミサイル駆逐艦1隻、
ジャンカイII級フリゲート艦1隻、フチ級補給艦1隻を確認。
その後、3隻は沖縄本島と宮古島の間の海域を南東に進み、太平洋へ向けて航行した。
