香港で10日、上水の食肉処理場でアフリカ豚コレラのウイルスが検出されました。

感染拡大を防ぐため、香港政府は翌日に豚を殺処分する予定でしたが、業者の反対に遭いました。

数日間の交渉を経て、6000頭の豚の殺処分を決定し、13日に作業が開始されました
アフリカ豚コレラのウイルスが検出された豚は中国・広東省の農場からの豚で、5月2日にサンプリングが行われました。
リンパの腫れが発見されましたが、獣医がアフリカ豚コレラではないと判断したため、10日になって、ようやく感染が確認されたとのことです。
昼頃から電気ショックによる殺処分作業を開始し、午後3時すぎに豚の死骸が埋立地に運ばれました。
